Courageous Conversations in Dance & Welcoming All Dancers by B. Woodard
Bits from our live performance yesterday and my goal as always: Do what I love, be who I am, & represent.
There’ve been many courageous conversations that needed to happen with my dance studio to get here from hairstyles, to schedules, to my brown tights and shoes. (Pink tights and shoes are a thing to blend with a dancer’s skin tone.) And we’re getting there. For every conversation that takes place that allows me to come as I am, my dance school (and yours) hopefully grows and more kids, who may look like me and even those who don’t, feel genuinely welcomed so they can actually thrive there. Great things happen when the work—way past just words—is felt. And this was a good day!
